An friendly attorney of my acquaintance pointed out to me the importance of crediting any photos or images that I found online and posted here. I did a little due diligence into best practices in this area, and the key steps seem to be:
- Host the image yourself; i.e. download it from their site and upload it to your own. Otherwise, you’re free riding on their storage space and bandwidth.
- Use the "title" tag to provide appropriate credit/s.
- Use an anchor tag to make the photo or image a link to the page where you found it.
Note that these guidelines are simply common courtesy; they won’t insure that you’re not violating copyright laws.
I also found a few sources of free photos that are not copyrighted and can apparently be used for non-commercial purposes:
